Simple Special Stunning - September '09

The purpose of "Simple Special Stunning" is to show how each issue of SheetLoad can be adapted for papercrafters of all levels. Whether it is sticking exactly to the sketch, or adding some extra bling.

Today's cards were created by Liz Weber and feature the sketch from our September '09 issue of SheetLoad of Cards.

• Used a scalloped circle and a Cuttlebug embossing folder to add texture
• Colored in the digital stamp image

• Embossed and sanded the scalloped circle, as well as the smaller piece of cardstock.
• Added some gorgeous Prima 'Say It in Pearls'
• Added ribbon behind the sentiment circle die cut and a pearl strip around the edge
• Created 'scenery' for her image by coloring grass and sky

Meet the Artists - Kelly Landers

As the new members of our Design Team make their debut in an issue of SheetLoad of Cards, we will post a special "episode" of Meet the Artists here on the SheetLoad blog.

Today's Artist is Kelly Landers, who made her debut in the September '09 issue. Please read on to learn more about Kelly and help me welcome her to the team.

SheetLoad Q - How long have you been making cards? Five years

SheetLoad Q - What is your favorite technique to use on cards? Coloring with COPIC Markers

SheetLoad Q - What is your favorite crafty site? SplitcoastStampers

SheetLoad Q - What is a recent card you have made, that would be considered a favorite?

This is my recent favorite because I liked how the overall layout turned out and I also tried a new background technique that really shimmered and set the mood for the card! I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but I loved the finished look.

SheetLoad Q - What is a little-known or odd fact about yourself? I used to compete in Country Western Couples Dancing and placed third in the nation with my partner in our division.

SheetLoad Q - Is there anything else you would like our readers to know? No day seems complete without the release of my creative energy. I love to do challenges of all types and find so much inspiration everywhere! Almost anything can inspire us to create if we open our eyes to all possibilities.

Sponsor Spotlight - JessicaLynnOriginal

It is time for our monthly Sponsor Spotlight!! This month's featured company is JessicaLynnOriginal. You can see a small selection of their adorable images in our September '09 issue.

Here is a little about the company in their own words...

I would like to thank SheetLoad of Cards for this opportunity to sponsor the newsletter with my stamps. Almost a year ago I saw the first issue and knew I wanted to work with Alicia and her team on this project. She is wonderful to work with and I look forward to doing it again soon.

JessicaLynnOriginal started for me a long time ago - much more than the four official years. I love to draw and it is really amazing to see something that I have drawn with pen and ink become part of a heartfelt card, scrapbook layout, or board game. (Which I am just in love with) It started with just a few
doodles that four years later have become Brentwood and Friends and so much more.

JLO Challenges:
Who doesn’t love to win prizes? We are offering on our blog card layout challenges for prizes. Be sure to take a look at what we are working on!

Brentwood the Book:
I am currently working on a book with Brentwood and his friends which will be ready for presale next month. I am very excited to bring his story to life. The book will be available on my website and at Amazon. The book will be perfect for kids 5-10. (up to 99 in heart)

We love our Military!! Without them we wouldn’t be able to live in the free country that we do. We have a few things currently running for them. For every “Military Brentwood” Digi or Clear Stamp we are donating part of the profit to the USO.
What a win/win!

Cards for Heroes Drive running until the end of October! We are collecting cards that we are going to mail to the Cards for Heroes Team. They provide cards for military members to
have and write personal notes their loved ones. We will not only gather up the full collection and mail them to Cards for Heroes we will also email you a FREE Brentwood Digi Design that is limited to this drive ONLY. The cards do not have to use JLO stamps; we just want to gather as many as possible for this great cause

Jessica, thank you so much for sponsoring the latest issue!!

Oops... Previous Post

Did you all see the post that went up earlier today? Well, you weren't supposed to, obviously. ;) Thanks to all who contacted me to let me know. That is what happens when you 'publish' and don't 'save' a draft post.

See you all back here later with the REAL sponsor spotlight.
