Where is the "Mini" and other News...

It IS the 15th of the month and some of you may have noticed the SheetLoad Mini isn't posted.

After some careful consideration, I have made a difficult choice to discontinue the Mini issues. It just got to be where there wasn't enough time in the day to "do it all".

The artists who came on board to make the Mini happen, Ann and Nicole, did such a wonderful job with each issue and I am happy to announce they will be staying on with us as Sketch Artists for the Monthly issues. So you will still see their work. Yay!

A couple of our Sample Artists have decided to move on as well. Flossie and Lindsay have stepped down from their positions at SheetLoad. Their hard work and lovely creations will be missed. I hope you will continue to stop by their blogs and cheer them on.

SheetLoad Shows You How - Card & Gift In One!! Day 2

Did yesterday's post get your attention? Are you ready to create?! Now's the time.

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies
Photobucket
See yesterday's post for specifics

Step 2: Stamp your image/sentiment onto one side of the clear block (stamped side will now be the “front”) and onto the 2”x2” square piece of cardstock.
Photobucket

Step 3: Put clear glue on the front of the 1.75” x 1.75” piece of patterned paper. Spread evenly with fingers (or a foam brush, if you like to stay clean) and adhere to back side of the clear block.

Step 4: Cut your magnet to 1.5” x 1.5”, put glue on the front and spread with fingers (or foam brush), apply to back of clear block.

Set magnet aside to dry while you make the card. NOTE: Put magnet/back side UP when drying. I learned the hard way it will stick to your surface.

Step 5: If you haven't already - download the October edition of SheetLoad and create a card using the rest of your patterned paper and cardstock.

If you don’t have sticky strip / don’t want to put ribbon on your magnet, skip to step 10

Step 6: Place a strip of tacky tape round the edges of the magnet.
Photobucket

Step 7: Wrap your ribbon around the bottom and sides of the block, leaving about 4” loose on each of the top sides.
Photobucket

Step 8: Tie a bow on the top of the block.
Photobucket

Photobucket

Step 9: Place a removable glue dot on the back of the clear block magnet and adhere to center of the 2" square on front of the card.

The recipient can then remove the magnet and adhere it to their fridge, or other metal surface.

SheetLoad Shows You How - Card & Gift In One! Day 1

While looking at all of the "stuff" laying on and around my desk I came up with a perfect way to clean up the mess a bit. :)

This card/gift in one uses an idea I saw in a CTMH catalog, as well as a card recently posted on Barbara's blog. The layout is from the October 2008 SheetLoad of Cards.

I hope you will join me in utilizing some recycled items and patterned paper & cardstock scraps to create a card that keeps on giving.

SUPPLY LIST:
**Square Studio G Stamp Block** This is the item that inspired me. I seem to have accumulated dozens of these and came up with a way to make use of them. (if you don't have any of these you could use a large clear epoxy sticker - those domed stickers that are usually round or square)

**Business Card Magnet** Do you have any of those free magnets on the fridge; that companies mail out as advertising, that are out of date or not needed? This is the time to put it to use. (If you don't have one, you can use thin magnet tape as well)

**Coordinating Cardstock Scraps** in the following sizes: 8.5" x 5.5", 5.5" x 4.25", 2" x 2"

**Coordinating Patterned Paper Scraps** in the following sizes: 4.5" x 3.25", 4.5" x 1.25", 1.75" x 1.75"

14" - 1/4" wide ribbon
Small Stamp - Sentiment or Image (Should be 1.5" x 1.5" or smaller)
1/4" wide Terrifically Tacky / Red Line Tape (Or other strong, double-sided tape)
Mod Podge / Clear Drying Glue (I used Aleene's Clear Gel Tacky Glue)
Repositionable Glue Dots (Or another temporary/removable adhesive)
Tape Runner / ATG (whatever adhesive you normally use to make cards)
Trimmer
Border Punch / Tearing Ruler
- Optional

**Supplies listed inside asterisks, denote items that are recycled, found or scrap items**

Are you ready to create? Make sure to check back tomorrow for pictures and instructions.

to be continued...

Katie's reason "to love SheetLoad"

Katie Skiff entered a card for this month's Show Us Your SheetLoad challenge and in her post she explained why she "loves SheetLoad".

I thought her idea to make card kits to take to crops, long car trips, etc. was pretty brilliant, so I wanted to share it with all of our readers.

Please check out her post for pictures and more information on how she makes her kits.

The October issue is ready to download...

(Click on thumbnail to download PDF)

Each month I am eager to share the new SheetLoad issue, with all of its wonderful samples, but this month I am even more excited for a couple more reasons.

The October 2008 issue of SheetLoad features...

Guest Artist - Marlene Lo
&
The NEW ShortCuts
Clear & Frosted Card Blanks

I discovered Marlene's blog while I was visiting the blog of SheetLoad's first ever guest artist, Kurtis. I just fell in love with her clean, simple style and her beautiful photography.

After corresponding with her I have discovered she is a great lady as well. Make sure to check back on October 3rd, for a special edition of Meet the Artists, to learn more about Marlene.

Each sample in this issue uses ShortCuts' latest (and if I do say so myself - greatest) product. The new Clear and Frosted Card blanks are perfect for creating spectacular cards in minutes!

The stock is nice and thick, and best of all - fingerprint resistant! No more wearing white gloves while using those flimsy transparencies. Not only do they come pre-cut (and the Frosted is pre-scored), but the material is also available in full-sized sheets (8.5" x 11").

Make sure to check back throughout the month to find out how you can win some card blanks of your very own.
